Making Changes to a PDF

Making Changes to a PDF

Once you have a PDF open, you can use the toolbars and various tools to make additions to the open PDF via the Tools Toolbar.

Expand this topic to view more information about basic changes you can make with PDFtypewriter.

You may also wish to look at the Advanced Section

To navigate to the page which you want to edit, click the thumbnail for that page.

2 . PDFtypewriter PDF Object PDFtypewriter PDF Object

PDFtypewriter PDF Object

The Pointer tool in the upper left hand corner is the default tool for editing a PDF.   It selects objects that you have added as well as allows you to resize these objects when they are selected.

When selected, an object has a black border around it with 8 little black squares around it.   The four squares at the corners, when clicked on will allow you to resize the height and width at the same time.

The four squares on the sides allow you to resize an object in a single direction.

If you right click any object, a drop down will appear.

You will have the option to:

  1. Bring the object to the front

  2. Send the object to the back

  3. Cut the object to the clipboard

  4. Copy the object to the clipboard

  5. Delete the selected object

  6. View the Properties of the object (when only one object is selected)

  7. Line up the selected objects when you select more than one object (this is further discussed later)

If you double click a form field object or text object that you added to the PDF, this will put the text or form object in edit mode, allowing you to change the text, type in new text, or delete text.

Pressing the delete key will delete all selected objects.

3 . Tools Toolbar Tools Toolbar

The Tools Toolbar can be used to add objects to the Main PDF Window such as the filled rectangle object selected in the above example.

The HAND tool will allow you to scroll on the PDF by clicking and dragging.

4 . Main PDF Window Main PDF Window

Main PDF Window

This is the main window where the PDF will be displayed and all addition and editing will take place. Currently there is a fill rectangle, a line, a highlight, and text object that have been added to this PDF. We can also see some form fields, highlighted in blue strips, which are from our existing PDF file which we opened.
